Over the weekend, Singapore saw it's next installment in the Lean Startup movement as LSM #LeanSGP (Lean Startup Machine) ran their intense weekend learning experience at Microsoft's Regional HQ care of BizSpark. Sixty enthusiastic entrepreneurs converged on the venue full of disruptive ideas and open minds to compete for the honours of #LeanSGP best team. Winning the weekend isn't about having the best or more viable idea. It's about demonstrating that over the period of 48 hours you've learnt the process of Lean Startup, and progressed your Customer Discovery.
Friday night starts with the traditional 'idea pitch' to filter out the top ideas for the groups to focus on over the weekend. There were several ideas we've seen before, and several new, furniture Rental was a first for Singapore. The most pleasant part was the absence daily deals ideas.
The weekend was led my LSM Guru, Amy Lo, who is quickly making a name for herself in Sinagpore despite living in New York. Amy was supported by an All Star cast of mentors including Jeff Paine, Bernise Ang, Roger Egan, Dave Lim, Ray Wu, Ian Tay and more.
The intense practical learning experience, pushes everyone to learn, practise and contribute, which works to heighten the enthusiasm and creative thinking.
The weekend's winner were Sparksmate, a social dating site that enlisted your attached friends to setup you up with other people they know. Exciting stuff, apparently their customer discovery found that attached people love to play match maker. Good luck to the team who have won a series of mentoring sessions with some of Singapore's mover and shakers.
